Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering in Doboj, University of East Sarajevo, was founded on the initiative of the Polytechnic School from Doboj and Doboj Municipal Assembly by Decision of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska of July 28, 2005.

Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering is a higher education institution which organizes studies of all cycles according the system 4+1+3 (four-year first cycle, one-year second cycle and three-year third cycle) where students get continuing professional education and training, perform basic and developmental research in the field of traffic, transport and motor vehicles.

The Faculty carries out following research activities:

  • basic developmental and applied research for the purpose of improving educational and scientific activities in the fields that the Faculty relates to,
  • organisation of scientific and professional conferences,
  • cooperation with  educational, scientific and other institutions in the country and abroad,
  • giving educational and scientific services to users in the country and abroad,
  • realisation of scientific and research activities and promotion of science and cooperation with other organisations
  • analyses and expertise in transport and traffic.

In the study year 2005/2006 the Faculty educated students at two out of five departments: Department for Road and Urban Transport and Department of Railway Transport. Since the study year 2006/2007 the Faculty had students at three remaining departments: Postal Department, Department for Telecommunications and Department of Logistics.

By the year 2014 at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, study programme Traffic Engineering, teaching activities were carried out at following departments: : Department for Road and Urban Transport, Department of Railway Transport, Postal Department, Department for Telecommunications and Department of Logistics. In 2014, by the Decision number 07.050/612-10-1-2/14 of July 29, 2014, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska approved a new, innovated first and second cycle study programme ’Traffic Engineering’, thus adding five new departments. Therefore, first cycle study departments at the study programme ’Traffic Engineering’ are:

  • Road and Urban Transport
  • Railway Transport
  • Telecommunications and Postal Traffic
  • Logistics
  • Informatics in Traffic
  • Motor Vehicles
  • Air Transport.

All syllabi are created according to the Bologna process.

First two years of study are common for all the students and all subjects are mandatory. During that period students acquire general knowledge necessary for further education at chosen department. At third and fourth year of study students choose orientation and get knowledge specific for the department they have chosen. Certain number of subjects is mandatory, others are elective and student chose them based on their wishes and affinity.

After eight semesters, students, who pass all the exams according to the curriculum and successfully finish final thesis, acquire a professional title of a Bachelor of Science in Traffic Engineering. Together with Diploma, a Diploma supplement is issued (also in English at a student’s request).

Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering has a number of qualified, full –time teaching staff together with  premises and equipment necessary for teaching activities (theoretical and practical part) at all Departments. The Faculty’s strategy is orientated towards continuing, systematic development of all the segments of this higher institution through constant activities on  teaching process improvement, development of its own capacities and resources, providing practical teaching and cooperation with business entities and other higher education institutions in the country and abroad, teaching staff and student mobility, domestic and international projects, membership in international networks and organisations.
